Basic Life Support and The Safe Use Of An AED (RQF)
This very practical course will enable your learners to use the AED competently and with confidence. Heart and circulatory disease claims around 200,000 lives each year. Many could have been saved if a defibrillator was made available. Automated External Defibrillators (AED’s) are now becoming more common throughout a range of public and work places. A casualty’s survival rate will dramatically increase if an AED is available.
AEDs are becoming more prevalent within the wider community there are national strategies in place actively promoting their placements in schools public places such as stations and residential areas. Many workplaces have voluntarily invested in AEDs
What is the duration of the course? A minimum of 4 contact hours in the classroom, consisting of practical and theoretical activities.
What is the Syllabus of the course? 1. A range of subjects are covered including: - 2. Responsibilities and reporting 3. Assessment of the situation 4. Dealing with an unresponsive casualty 5. Infection control 6. Resuscitation 7. AED functions 8. Defibrillation procedures 9. Safety measures
What is the requirement of the course? The course instructor is responsible for determining whether delegates pass or fail based on practical and oral assessment throughout the course, i.e., by observation and oral questioning, as well as the completion of a multiple- choice question paper at the end of the course. All learners will be fully supported throughout.
What qualification will I receive? This qualification is valid for is valid for 3 years from the date of achievement. The learner will need to complete the full course again to requalify for a further 3 years. It is recommended that the learner attends annual refresher training.
